The cotton men’s dress shirts from Boll Organic are classy and traditional. What’s not traditional about them, however, is how they’re produced: organically. Conventional cotton-growing techniques rely on a surprising amount of pesticides and herbicides. On average, about six pounds of the toxic stuff is applied per acre in American cotton fields each growing season, according to the USDA.
Boll Organic’s products are priced at $35 for a button-down collar dress shirt, with free shipping. According to the company’s website, it costs 30% more to make an organic dress shirt, but Boll Organic doesn’t pass on that cost to its customers – and donates 1% of its revenue to environmental organizations.
