Mathew Sharp is a transport planner and researcher based in Sydney, Australia.

Mathew is passionate about the development, growth, and decline, of public transport across Australia, with expertise on his home state of Tasmania. Through the understanding of historical contexts, Mathew aims to inform and educate on where and how transport systems, travel behaviours, and public policy has evolved, and what opportunities or gaps exist.

With a wealth of knowledge across many disciplines, Mathew utilises his skills in media, communications, policy, and finance, to build a picture on where Australian transport and urban planning has come, is, and will be going.

His experience includes Transport for New South Wales, News Corp Australia, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and the Australian Defence Force.

Outside of transport, Mathew enjoys analogue and digital photography, videography, music, creative and dramatic arts, exploring nature, letter writing, and history.

Mathew holds a Graduate Certificate of Transport from the University of Sydney, and Bachelors in Arts and Commerce from Deakin University. He is a member of the Transport Professionals Association, Planning Institute of Australia, Institute of Public Administration Australia, Australian Timetable Association, and Tasmanian Transport Museum Society.

Mathew is a Non-Executive Director for the Australian Railway Historical Society NSW, and is an expert member on the City of Hobart portfolio committee for transport.
